On Fox, Cornyn Discusses Coordinated Democrat Disruption During SCOTUS Hearings

Today I appeared on Fox News’ Fox & Friends to discuss the Democrats’ coordinated disruption during the first day of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee.  Excerpts from my appearance are below, and video can be found here

Well, I said it reminded me of mob rule. Certainly the normal rules where everybody is treated with respect and people are given a right to say their piece and be heard, all that was out the window yesterday, and I hope today is better but I'm not particularly optimistic.

Their base is utterly opposed to this nominee and this President and anything they do that is seen as trying to accommodate or work or within the normal rules, I think they’re going to be criticized by their political base, but this is sort of what our politics have come to today. I think the Senate ought to be a place where we can treat each other with respect, we can ask questions, we can disagree but do our job and that’s what I hope we get to do today.

They know what Judge Kavanaugh represents, and to them he represents a threat to a politicized Supreme Court and a return to traditional judging of judges calling balls and strikes as umpires. That’s a threat to them because they’ve always seen this as a way to do an end run around the ballot box and around Congress.

Senator Booker was raising money off of his comments at the hearing which I think is really a mistake. Because it becomes very transparent, very obvious what it is all about. It’s all about politics. It’s about the next presidential election. It’s not about Judge Kavanaugh or the Supreme Court.
